Hello everyone, today I was not feeling well at all. Early this morning I vomited and I haven't wanted to eat since then. My mommy and daddy became worried because I didn't want to eat at all today. My parents took me to the urgent care at Beaumont Hospital and the Doctor there realized that something was wrong. My skin was pale blue and I didn't have any pulses in my thighs. The doctor was very concerned so he told the nurse to take my blood pressure but they couldn't obtain it. He then ordered a chest x-ray which showed I had a large heart so we were sent over to the ER. when we arrived, the ER Attending wanted to rule out a sepsis infection because she said it could be just a shadow that gave the look of a big heart.I was given a spinal tap and had some blood cultures taken.Finally at around 5pm, I was given a IV so I could get some fluids because it had been many hours since I had eaten. My mommy told her that I was breathing funny, but she didn't listen her. They then had my dad wrap in kangaroo style because I had a low body temperature. After about three hours and many pokes to get an IV started, my breathing became worse and then the ER Attending realized that something was wrong. At 8pm. my heart started to give out and I was having trouble breathing. This nurse named Kelly took over and she knew something was wrong so she started to get things going. Kelly was the one who had them page the doctor who saved me. They then called the NICU Resident to assess me and the paged Dr.Cutler, the Cardiologist on call. My mommy and daddy didn't know what was going on and then they took me away. All my mommy and daddy knew was something was wrong with my heart because the Dr. told them so....
The nurse Kelly and Dr. Cutler helped save my life. My mommy and daddy did not get to see me untill 11:30 pm and was being prepared to be transferred to Children's Hospital of MI where I would require major surgery.
