Today is my my big day. I will be going into the operation room at 7am. My mommy came into the room at 2am to look at me and I saw her and then she hid on the other side of my bed. She said she didn't want to wake me because I would be mad that I couldn't eat. Then her and my dad came in at 5am and talked to me. At 6:30am, my Aunt Julie and Meema can in to see me before I had my heart fixed. I also said Happy Birthday to my daddy before my mommy. They both forgot because they were thinking about me. The day has just begun.....
The Waiting Period: At 7am, the nurse from the Cardiovascular team came to get me and everyone was able to walk me to my destination. My mommy and daddy gave me lots of kisses and told me how much they loved me and would see me later. Then off I went... They went and camped out in the Surgical waiting room where a nurse would come in to tell them my status and when I was put on Bypass. Jason came to be there with my dad and he arrived right after. My Nana Joan also came right after as well to be my family. I went in. I guess while I was in surgery, they all talked about me..I think. Then they ate food that my Meema brought for everyone. Around 12pm, the nurse told them I was off Bypass and it was a wonderful moment for my family. They all cried. Then at 1:30pm, Dr.Delius let them all know that the surgery went well and that my chest was currently open and would be open for about an hour to prevent swelling. Mr.Nagher came in the afternoon to support my family and see how I was doing. Around 2pm they told my parents that they would be able to see me for about 1 minute as they transfered me to the PICU. When they saw me, they were in tears...it was a great moment. the nurse told them that it would be about an hour or more before they could see me because they had to hook me to all my monitors and medication.. Now that there was good news, my Aunt Julie and Jason left because they knew I would be ok. Now my dad can celebrate his birthday....
Dads Celebration & Unwanted News:My parents said goodbye to Jason, Aunt Julie and Mr. Nagher and while my Meema and Nana Joan were preparing to celebrate my dad's birthday and my recovery. They had cake and he opened his nice gifts. It became 4:30 pm and my family still hadn't seen me. Then the Cardiovascular nurse came into the waiting room with a look of concern and my mommy knew something was wrong. She grabbed my mom and told her that the Dr wanted to see her and my dad because I needed to be rushed back to surgery. When they saw me, it was great. I had bleeding that wouldn't stop and they had to open me back up to see what was going on. Dr.Walters, the other surgeon would have to do it and told them that he had to do some chest compressions and he would find out what was causing the bleeding. They were to go back to the surgical waiting room and he would come out to talk to them once it was over. This was like another nightmare for them......
Waiting Again: My parents, Meema and Nana Joan were all in disbelief. Ladonna, Rob and Zoey and my mom's friend Sean were on there way up there to see me and then didn't know what had happened. My mom said when she saw Zoey, it made it her feel better because she just brought sunshine to her life at that moment. When they all sat down...my mom got back to her old self and started cracking jokes and talking about people. Yep, that's my mommy. The Dr.Delius came out around 6pm and said that everything was fine. I had bleeding from tiny little holes that leech out. I was going to be ok. Everyone was happy. Ladonna, Rob and Zoey left so she could ready for school tomorrow. My Meema, Nana Joan and Sean left right after so my parents could have spend some time together.....
Finally out of surgery:At 7:30pm, my mom and dad got to see me and they were sooooo happy. I was so beautiful to them. They just kept talking to me over and over again and stayed with me for along time. They told my nurse who was awesome that they wanted to be woke up the moment I opened up eyes. My nurse was there to watch me at all times and monitor every little detail.
